Frequently asked questions

How do I connect my Strava account?
Open Settings, then Connected Providers. Select Strava and follow the prompts to authorize Train Ultra. After you approve, Train Ultra can use new Strava activities for your coaching.
What are Workout Evaluations?
After you complete an activity on Strava, Train Ultra automatically analyzes your workout data, pacing, effort, heart rate zones, intervals, elevation, and more. It then writes a detailed evaluation and posts it directly to your Strava activity description. You don't need to do anything, it happens automatically within seconds of your activity appearing on Strava.
How do training summaries work?
Train Ultra generates a monthly training summary from your recent activities. It covers total volume, training patterns, goal progress, and practical insights. The summary updates as new activities arrive. Open Home to view it.
How do I set and track goals?
Open Goals and create a goal, for example, "Run a sub-2:00 half marathon in April" or "Build up to 30 miles per week." Your coach uses your goal progress in workout evaluations and training summaries, so you can see how your training supports your target.
How does title generation work?
When a new activity appears on Strava, Train Ultra can generate a title from your activity data and title settings. The title replaces the default Strava title. Open Settings, then Smart Titles to set the tone and style or generate a new title.
What data does the AI use?
For evaluations and titles, the AI receives non-personal activity data from Strava: activity type, distance, moving time, elapsed time, elevation gain, heart rate data (if available), pace/speed splits, laps, and device-recorded intervals. Your training context and goals (if you've set them) are also included so the AI can personalize its feedback. We never send personal identifying information to the AI service.
How is my data used and protected?
We use your connected-provider activity data to provide AI coaching, including evaluations, titles, summaries, and goal tracking. We request only the provider permissions that Train Ultra needs. Your data is not shared with third parties and is not used to train AI or machine-learning models. Strava evaluations can post to the Strava activity description. You can disconnect a provider in Settings, then Connected Providers.
Do web, iOS, and Android use the same account?
Yes. The web, iOS, and Android clients use the same Train Ultra account and backend. Sign in with the same email address to see your shared activities, goals, settings, and coaching data.
What if my activity titles or evaluations aren't updating?
First, check that Strava has the permissions that Train Ultra needs. Open Settings, then Connected Providers to disconnect and reconnect Strava. Also check Settings for your Smart Titles and Workout Evaluations options. If the issue continues, report it on GitHub.

Troubleshooting

How to reconnect your Strava account
  1. Open Settings.
  2. Open Connected Providers.
  3. Disconnect Strava, then select Connect Strava.
  4. Follow the prompts to authorize Train Ultra.
Evaluation not appearing on my Strava activity
  1. Check that evaluations are enabled in Settings (the "Workout Evaluations" toggle).
  2. Evaluations are posted to the activity description, check the description field on Strava, not the title.
  3. If you edited the activity description on Strava before the evaluation posted, the evaluation may not overwrite your changes.
  4. Try disconnecting and reconnecting Strava if the issue persists.
